A Look at the History of Dogs

Their studies suggest that Miacis evolved to Cynodictis which later developed to a dog-like animal and finally the dog we know today.

Years of hunting could have largely contributed to the development of the many dog breeds we have today. Over the years, a lot has changed in the way people view dogs and there have been a large number of breeds developed to aid human beings with some activities. Some of these dog breeds include guard dogs, herding dogs, sled dogs, and war dogs. There are also dogs of burden, rescue dogs, toy dogs, small companion dogs and finally guide dogs.

Dogs have natural hunting instincts.  Human beings have taken advantage of this over the years and they use it to hunt a number of preys in varying environments: this has led to the development of different groups of dogs, and ultimately to different dog breeds.
